1. FILM: Hamnet (2025)

Available to Rent / Buy - Sky Cinema

Historical drama starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. In 16th century Stratford-upon-Avon, Agnes Hathaway and aspiring playwright Will Shakespeare fall in love, marry and have three children. Over the years, Will grows increasingly absent from the family as he pursues his career in London. Eventually, the couple suffers a terrible loss that each processes separately, though Will's latest play offers possible catharsis.

Archie (Age 13) - ★★★★★

"Was a very sad film about what is believed to be the inspiration for Hamlet. In it shakespeare’s wife Agnes has a child, but he passes away while Shakespeare isn’t there. This inspires Shakespeare to write hamlet as a way to say the things he couldn’t. I really enjoyed this film, it was a tragic story and it had great performances from the actors. I was also impressed with how lots of scenes are filmed in one camera shot with all natural lighting."

Fantasy adventure starring Actor of the Week, David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. Driven to distraction by her bawling baby brother Toby, Sarah calls on the goblins to take him away. To her amazement they do, and she has 13 hours to solve the mystery of the Labyrinth and save Toby from becoming a goblin for ever.

Sam (Age 12) - ★★★★★

"When I first thought about a movie playing synchronised with a live band, I expected it to be an interesting experience but not an enjoyable one. I was wrong. Once the music started playing and the film got going, I found it to be extremely immersive. The volume of the soundtrack never overpowered the audio of the actual film and if it ever did subtitles would be there in case. Overall the film was very entertaining. Seeing it on the big screen was incredible. Even the conductor seemed to be enjoying it. Because the audience certainly was! There was a wide array of Labyrinth merchandise dotted across the auditorium. Someone was even wearing a David-Bowie-style wig, which gave me a good chuckle"

Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, must reunite with Glinda the Good to transform herself - and Oz - for good. With Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

Nina (Age 13) - ★★★★★

"Wow I have no words it was amazing!! Wicked: For Good is based on the second act of the musical Wicked. The music is incredible and the movie features 2 new songs the musical doesn’t. Ariana Grande (Glinda) and Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) both are amazing actresses. Cynthia has a very powerful voice and Ariana’s high notes are everything! It was such a heartwarming, dramatic and emotional conclusion of the story. It’s set 5 years after the first movie and it shows how far Glinda and Elphaba have come since the end of the first film. Glinda has a glamorous lifestyle and she has become Glinda the Good and Elphaba (now the Wicked Witch of the West) is hiding away and trying to save the animals and prove the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) is a fraud. Grab your tissues, prepare for insane singing talent and sit back relax and enjoy the film! (And maybe cry a little)” 1000000/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐

Drama set after a pandemic caused by a mass fungal infection caused its victims to transform into zombie-like creatures. Starring Bella Ramsey

Jasmine (Age 15) - ★★★★★

"A gripping show which will have you on the edge of your seat. This is a much watch for all from its captivating special effects to the wonderful acting of Pedro Pascal and Bell Ramsey who take the series that level higher. I loved this show and can’t recommend it enough. From the first episode you are hooked!"

8. FILM: Get Out

Netflix

Oscar-winning horror mystery starring Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams. Chris, a young African-American photographer, is understandably anxious when he's invited to stay with his wealthy white girlfriend's parents at their family estate. Admitting she hasn't told them he's black only adds to Chris's apprehension, but mum and dad are warm and welcoming. However, as the weekend unfolds, Chris begins to suspect all is not as it seems.

Sam - ★★★★★

"Truly good horror movies are a rare instance today, but I am sure no one expected one of media’s now most iconic ones to be directed by a comedian. Jordan Peele’s Get Out is about a couple in which the girlfriend encourages her black boyfriend Chris to visit her parents. Chris is concerned about this because her family is white. Once they arrive, you immediately get deeply unsettled, due to the eminently good cinematography which continued to impress me throughout the movie. The whole thing is made even better by the disturbingly realistic performance of the actors, especially Daniel Kaluuya, who sold the film for me. Get Out is so immersive that when a jump scare takes place, it truly makes you jump! The film fits you into Chris’ shoes perfectly, so you are just as confused as he is. Overall Get Out is an incredibly effective horror movie, which genuinely scared me. It is a movie you think about long after you have watched it."

9. FILM: The Wind Rises (2013)

Netflix

Animated wartime drama directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Jiro falls in love with the idea of flying aeroplanes from a young age, but being short-sighted means he can't qualify as a pilot. Rather than be discouraged, he turns his focus to designing planes and building "beautiful dreams" for others.

10. Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2

Disney+

With less than a year until the world premiere of Frozen II (2019), the filmmakers, artists, songwriters and cast open their doors to cameras for a six-part documentary series to reveal the hard work, heart, and collaboration that went into creating the highly anticipated sequel.

Also....

A lonely man finds himself in a strange place where everything is planned in advance for his arrival.

Stewart - ★★★★★

"A haunting, strange animated film with that wonderful track from Eluvium. It's super creepy and creates a mysterious world all of its own. With echoes of David Lynch it's inspired and one that I just want to explore again as we follow a man's journey to a strange hotel. Animation is fantastic as well. Perfection."
