Friday 12th September, The Anvil, Basingstoke

Sunday 14th September, Cliffs Pavillion, Southend-on-Sea

Wednesday 17th September, Cheltenham Town Hall

Part of UK Tour...

ESA astronaut Tim Peake talks about his fascinating career.

Sia (Age 9) - ★★★★★

"I went to the Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline to see Tim Peake, the astronaut. Before it started, I was very excited to get a signed book by Tim which kept me busy before he started and I read when I got home.

Tim used videos, facts and jokes to teach me about life in space. The funny stories he told us made me laugh, especially the stories about going to the toilet in space. It was a bit scary how many things went wrong, and Tim told us how astronauts need to think quickly to solve problems. My favourite video was when they showed the chimpanzee in the rocket because he looked very funny.

I now want to learn so much more about space and would give the show 5 stars."

The legend of Braveheart lives on…

Through the medium of hip hop - basically folk music in caps not cardigans - three performers bring historical figures such as Robert the Bruce, Edward Longshanks, and Marion Braidfute to life as they retell the story of William Wallace from birth to his glorious death, and beyond...

Stewart - ★★★★

"This show certainly has mass appeal - Hamilton meets Braveheart!

The three performers are fantastic as they delve into the story of William Wallace from three different angles - this is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the performance, there's real consideration and detail in the thought of William Wallace's legendary status and the truth behind the tale. It certainly provides food for thought.

The music numbers are all wonderful, with a special mention to Edward Longshanks villainous introduction with a blase ruling over his people to a bombastic beat and humorous performance from Manasa Tagica.

The play does have a few awkward hurdles when it comes down to relaying historical facts in an entertaining manner but the energy of the performers keeps the pace upbeat.

This feels like the cusp of a national phenomenon, so book a ticket now and join the Wallace clan as a backer and ally."

Enfield studied painting at the University of Brighton, graduating in 2011. Recent achievements include selection for the BEEP Painting Biennial, John Ruskin Prize, and ING Discerning Eye, where she has received both the Landscape and Midlands Prizes. Winner of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2022, her work is held in public and private collections worldwide.

Stewart - ★★★★

"An nigmatic, mysterious and atmospheric exhibition. A great place to host the exhibition and one to revisit to get lost in the hypnotic imagery of flames, finely crafted and detailed within Enfield's artwork."

Ian Hamilton Finlay - Images from the Arcadian Dream Gallery

Exhibition

until 28th September - Biggar & Upperclydesdale Museum

Images from the Arcadian Dream Garden, a centenary exhibition honouring the life and work of internationally acclaimed artist, poet, and landscape designer Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925–2006). The exhibition coincides with what would have been Finlay’s 100th birthday and forms part of a wider series of commemorative events taking place across the UK and Europe.

Finlay is best known for Little Sparta, the celebrated garden he created with his wife, Sue Finlay, at their home in the Pentland Hills, just ten miles outside Biggar. Over four decades, he transformed the exposed moorland site at Stonypath into a sculptural and poetic landscape of international importance. Collaborating with stone carvers, letterers, artists, and poets, Finlay embedded ideas in the land itself, drawing on themes such as classical antiquity, maritime culture, the Second World War, and the French Revolution. Each sculptural element is carefully sited within a landscape of symbolic meaning, making the garden itself a total work of art.
