The film received positive reviews from critics, who generally welcomed the film's smaller stakes than other MCU films, as well as its cast (particularly Rudd, Peña, Lilly, and Douglas), humor, and visual effects. Two sequels have been released: Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).

"Decent film, decent characters, decent story, and decent villian. If you can't tell from the last sentence, this was a dejkm]ent movie. I like these characters; Luis (he was hilarious), Dave, Scott Lang, and Hank Pym. Paxton was weird, Darren Cross was boring to watch, and Hope Pym was dramatic and not very entertaining to watch. I love the Ant-Man suit, it looks better than Captain America's, Falcon's, and War Machine's suit. The yellow-jacket was pretty cool, but the guy under the mask was disappointing. I think that Ant-Man will be great as an Avenger!
To be honest, this film was not as good as I expected, especially for the standards of a Marvel movie. Next I'm watching Captain America: Civil War."
