Theatre REVIEW: Beetlejuice - ★★★★★

Get ready for the time of your afterlife with the supernaturally hilarious hit musical Beetlejuice!
The spectacular Broadway sensation crosses over to the Prince Edward Theatre from May 2026 – for a limited haunting only.
Based on Tim Burton’s beloved movie classic, this wildly funny - and weirdly life-affirming – musical tells the tale of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager sharing her home with a pair of newly-deads and the demonic ghost with the most, Beetlejuice. He’s dead trouble, but if you really want to feel alive, just say his name three times…
With a gleefully irreverent book, head-spinning set design and a score that’s out of this Netherworld, Beetlejuice is a ‘feast for the eyes and soul’ (Entertainment Weekly). Outrageous, but with a big (cold) heart, this is ‘screamingly good fun!’ (Variety) that’ll make you want to live - and make the most of every Day-O!
You can only see Beetlejuice in the West End from May 2026 until January 2027 - so make sure you possess a ticket.
Where?
Prince Edward Theatre, London - until 2nd January

"It's my absolute favourite movie - so of course I was going to love this! It's a wild, rude, crude, hilarious musical with a star making turn for David Fynn as the slippery, sly Ghost with the Most!
The staging all looks fantastic and fits very much with the style of Tim Burton's glorious fantasy classic.
There's a real nod to Rocky Horror with the dynamic between Beetlejuice and the Maitlands - Adam and Barbara - in fact the latter characters are sooo funny in this show - I would, dare say an improvement on the original films' characters. Flipside of that however is the changes to Delia Deetz didn't really work for me, the actress was fine but Catherine O'Hara's campy pretentious yuppy artist was sorely missed compared to the hippy airhead they've made the character now. A teeny weeny gripe then in this hilarious show, with brilliant music, hilarious gags (Beetlejuice even shouted at Mix Up Junior near the start which was hysterical) and a fantastic addition to the West End - it's not around for long, so don't miss it!"
Mix Up Junior (Age 7) - ★★★★★
"A hundred thousand stars and Beetljuice even asked me what my age was then told me to shut up! There's a dancing pig and it was really funny. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice!"
