Music REVIEW: Ghostbusters in Concert - ★★★★★

ree

Experience the original 1984 blockbuster Ghostbusters on the big screen this Halloween, with Scotland’s National Orchestra playing Elmer Bernstein’s score live!

Last year marked the 40th anniversary of the sci-fi comedy phenomenon that stars Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis as ghost catchers in New York. Earning nearly $300 million at release, it was the highest-grossing comedy ever at the time.

Making his debut with the RSNO, Peter Bernstein – son of the Academy Award®-winning film composer Elmer Bernstein – will conduct the concerts and the score which he originally orchestrated.

MIX UP REVIEWS:

Mix Up Junior (Age 6) - ★★★★★

"Brilliant! I give it a hundred billion stars!"

Stewart -  ★★★★★

"What an incredible experience watching one of our favourite movies on the big screen with the glorious sounds of a live orchestra. It makes it all so very special as well that it's conducted by Elmer Bernstein's son, Peter Bernstein.

The film itself is still hilarious and there's a real fun moment when Sigourney Weaver's character discusses being in an orchestra.

The score itself is fantastic and brings a wonderfully weird and wacky element to the movie - it's the perfect fit and hearing it with such an outstanding orchestra was just glorious.

There's a few fun video cameos in there as well on the night which was a real treat.

Mix Up Junior was in costume and loved it, he shouted along to the Ghostbusters theme song when it came along and he made friends with another boy who was also same age and in costume and travelled all the way from Newcastle to see the show. The film really hasn't lot it's appeal.

Special shout out also to the brilliant lighting design accompanying the film.

Great night! Who you gonna call? Box office to book your tickets for the Home Alone concert!"
