The Mix Up Fringe Festival Summer Camp! - Age 5-11s

Monday 9th August - Friday 13th August, 10am - 1pm

Salvation Army Community Centre, 1 East Adam Street, EH8 9TF

The Schedule!....

This year the festival is on a smaller scale and has a number of unique online streaming performances. Therefore this year our Fringe Camp will have some Watch Parties at our venue as well as our day trips out.

Please note our Watch Party performances may change before the week begins...

MONDAY 9th August

10am - Mix Up Drama Games

10:30am - WATCH PARTY - Something in the Water!

Grumms doesn't see themselves in the Barbies or GI Joes they play with. Instead, they find solace in their superhero comic books. But when Grumms transforms into a horrible squid monster (think Creature from the Black Lagoon meets The Muppets) they must hide their secret identity and disguise as a 'normal, human woman'. Superhero or horrible monster? You decide. 'Inventive, unpredictable and seriously wacky, ripped from the pages of a superhero cartoon comic book' (Advertiser). Winner: Best Theatre, Adelaide Fringe, 2021.

This tale of Eastern promise is adapted from a traditional story for a modern audience with original songs and new characters. It is Children’s Theatre at its best with a colourful backdrop, props and costumes to intrigue and transport you into the world of Aladdin set in a fictitious place somewhere in the Middle East. Please join us on this wonderful rags-to-riches story of ambition and fulfilment brought to you by a vibrant, talented Young Company who have had sell-out children's shows since 2016 including, most recently, Beauty and the Beast and The Wizard of Oz **** (Three Weeks).

11:45am - WATCH PARTY Physical Theatre Double Bill - Taiwan Season: Fighters

Drawn from one of the most popular works of classical Chinese literature, this stylishly buoyant show by Nai-Hsuan Yang's Les Petites Choses Production is fierce fun for all ages. Introduced by a welcoming narrator, five godly characters spring vividly to life from page to stage. The wonderfully game cast's energising fusion of hip-hop and contemporary dance is further enlivened by a folk-techno soundtrack. The result is a highly entertaining slice of theatrical mythology brought bang up-to-date for a global society that might well need a new breed of heroes.

12:00pm - WATCH PARTY Physical Theatre Double Bill - Out of Order

In a not-so-distant future lingers the bitter aftertaste of a déjà vu, the theatres are empty, meeting places and cultural venues are no longer permitted, physical contact is prohibited. Artists are forced to meet secretly in forsaken spaces. The big top is achingly deserted. Spread out across this post-apocalyptic setting, ten gloved and masked characters scrutinise one another, prepare, approach and avoid contact. Coming from all walks of life, these forgotten acrobats cling to their vocation as best they can.

1:00pm - Finish.
