Dance REVIEW: Circa Duck Pond - ★★★★★

The enchantment of Swan Lake, the thrill of the circus, with humour, panache and, of course, feathers, in Duck Pond by Circa, created by Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa Ensemble.
Feathers will fly in Circa’s exuberant take on Swan Lake.
The world’s most romantic ballet is re-imagined as a circus spectacular, full of Circa’s signature physicality and shot through with cheeky humour and a thoroughly contemporary energy.
Be swept away by this tale of swans and hapless princes sparkling with quirky touches like the sequinned flipper-wearing duck army and a burlesque black swan. There are sumptuous aerials, jaw-dropping acrobatics and of course feathers! Touching, funny and utterly entertaining, Duck Pond is a tale of identity and finding your true self.

""When I first came into the auditorium, I had no idea that it would have so much comedy. Overall it was a drama so I was surprised when the ducks came in holding mops then came the pillow fight before it plunged into a gripping romance.
I admired the ducks because of hilarious comedy as well as acrobatics.
The whole thing blended together with the intro fading to a story to an outro.
The way that they did it you could seamlessly tell what part of the story it was even if you couldn't understand it clearly.
Overall, it was a drama and romance but it had a few tweaks of comedy from pillow fights, to cleaning, to hanging the main character from a giant mop.
The whole thing was unpredictable.
I'd like to say that some people might not like the end because of how they stripped down to their undergarments which I didn't expect because I thought they were still on their outro but all the while they had moved seamlessly to the almost end while distracting the audience with hilarious comedy and beautiful acrobatics.
While all this was happening, I could almost always tell what they were doing most of the time although sometimes it was hard to tell but then of course it was a silent comedy but overall, I think duck pond was a solid nine out of ten.""
