Dance REVIEW: BalletLORENT: Snow White - ★

BalletLorent brings a magical retelling of Snow White to Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy on Friday 13th March - Saturday 14th March.

Seven courageous miners toil for a world of opulence enjoyed by the Queen and her beautiful daughter. The Queen’s relentless quest for eternal beauty drives her into darkness, creating a spellbinding story for all ages.

Directed by Liv Lorent and featuring 10 extraordinary performers, this dance theatre production dazzles with stunning costumes by Libby El Alfy and Nasir Mazhar, music by Murray Gold, set design by Phil Eddolls, and lighting by Malcolm Rippeth. Retold by Carol Ann Duffy, it’s a fresh, mesmerizing take on the Grimm classic.

Neve (Age 8) & Mum -

"Last friday we went to see the Balletlorent adaption of snow white. We have a bit of mixed review. Whilst the music, dancing and effects were all very good, the story itself was the original, dark version of snow white. For an advertised 'ages 5+ family friendly' performance, Neve unfortunately found it to be too graphic and gory for her. The huntsman killing the baby doe and pulling out its heart and the queen then eating said heart while the blood ran down her face and arms in particular were just too much for her. As a result we had to leave halfway through, as although I had prepped her for the fact that ballets tend to be tragic, even I was unprepared for this level of gore!"
