My favourite character was Captain America with Thanos being a close second.

Rachel Maclean sees a parallel between today’s rush to embrace (or impose) AI in every context with the rush of technological innovation of the nineteenth century. They’ve Got Your Eyes, a film work Maclean created using AI models trained on her own image and archive, follows an inventor: one part tech bro, one part Scottish Enlightenment thinker, conjuring fantastical fairies who grant his every desire – or, at least, what they think he desires. These creatures are his offspring, but they’re not under his control. In a cautionary myth for our time, Maclean reminds us always to be careful what we wish for.

"A wonderfully weird, creepy and haunting film installation that personifies the A.I. revolution and the dangers of artificial programming taking over. MacLean's work is always fascinating and eerie - have you visited Upside Mimi's at Jupiter Artland - if not, you should!
Here this 20 minute film played every half hour at the Buchanan Galleries is a really trippy experience following an inventor's artificial creation and it's fascinating - the humour is very pointed and it's all a little bit gross as well. A real thought provoking piece that might make you reconsider asking ChatGPT to help you write your next e-mail!"

"This was a really good dance/physical theatre show. It is set inside a hospital and it’s a sort of anthology with loads of tiny stories all told through dance and sparse dialogue. For example there was a really funny waiting room scene with scene and there was a lecture about fighting disease with two performers stage fighting.
I really enjoyed the dance work was incredible. It was very intricate and well choreographed. The examples of the sequences, e.g. props and set were small but well used there was occasional use of screens and projection to convey x-rays and the clinical setting. It was funny as well as really sad at times.
In terms of a deeper message, it made me realise that all kind of people go to a hospital and this was a key part of the storytelling.
Overall I thought this was an incredible piece. The cast worked so hard and looked delighted at the end. Most of the audience were on their feet too. Would definitely recommend.."

"This was a very thrilling and tense show for show with great acting especially from the main lead, John Partridge, who played Hannibal Lecter and who was phenomenal but they were all really good. I wasn’t bored a single second, it was very entertaining and captivated me well, kept me curious and on the edge of my seat. The set was great and it was well produced. The fighting/killing scenes were amazing and the lighting was excellent. Overall, this was a great first experience of Silence of the Lambs for me , it was an incredible, thrilling, one of a kind experience and I give it 5 stars out of 5."

"The Oddessy is a one of a kind cinematic experience. A spectacular spectacle filled with great acting and a fantastic landscape, the world being extremely developed and layered. This film balances elements of horror as well as action and adventure and mythology elements. I do think that the ending drags on a bit too long though, and, although this is not really my type of movie, I can still say without a doubt that it is incredible."

"High society is such a feel good funny show! Its set in the 1930s and the basic plot is Love triangle and millionaires getting drunk. The songs are so fun and the ensemble are great dancers! The costumes are amazing and colourful, fabulous dresses! I enjoyed this musical though it wasnt my favourite and i got a bit bored in some bits but overall it was a good show! My favourite numbers were Now you have Jazz and Let's Misbehave."

"I thought this was a movie with excellent cinematography- shot beautifully and spectacularly, really going back to its roots, feeling like a comic book brought to life. It has awesome acting, as always, especially from Tom Holland. Zendaya is also great, playing practically a different character here than in the other films, and I mean that in the best way possible. Spider-Man and Punisher’s dynamic was golden. I loved their quippy banter and their scenes together were fantastic. However, I feel like watching the trailers for this movie really hindered the experience, as they gave away far too much.
I also feel like something was missing from the movie, evoking a sense of incompletion. I expected there to be a big twist or turn in the end that I wasn’t expecting but they were actually very predictable. Overall,I would give this film 7 stars out of 10. This was still an entertaining, fun film with a great message about the importance of not being alone and isolating yourself, awesome emotion, a miraculous crew, but with just a few too many problems, not reaching the level that I personally was hyped for."

Samizdat Eastern European Film Festival

Named after the practice of clandestine dissemination of censored and forbidden texts in communist states, Samizdat Eastern European Film Festival is an audience-focused film festival based in Scotland. The festival takes place annually, with a main programme of screenings in Glasgow taking place over a week in early autumn, and selected screenings in other locations: in 2026, returning to Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and, for the first time, travelling to Cromarty and Dunfermline. With a diverse programme of meticulously curated retrospectives and new films, as well as special events such as animation collections and short film showcases, Samizdat is the first Scotland-based festival dedicated exclusively to cinema from Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.
