We had an incredible day at the Hoot festival on Sunday 11th October!
We started the day off with some super fun interactive installations in the foyer - this included a stage to tell jokes, a knock knock door, a cage and even the opportunity to try on lots of the costumes from the theatre.
There were some hilarious walk-about performances throughout the day with a special shout out to the absolutely brilliant young actors from Perth Youth Theatre who performed with skill and hilarity a synchronised swimming routine - with lots of funky music thrown into the mix! They were fantastic, a great ensemble!
Our first workshop of the day was with the wonderful Fiona from Dirliebane Theatre (the creative geniuses behind the whole festival), who expertly teached us the skills behind falling off a chair - the workshop was actually called How to Fall off a Chair! - of course all the Mix Up kids had a lot fun here.
The performance we saw in the Studio: Games, Set, Match was by Think Circus. This was a really fun circus style performance which created some sport style games into the mix - our kids were all entranced and found the performers "Highly skilled, amazing, really talented!" (Harrison, Age 12) "Hilarious" and "I loved it! They did sooo many tricks!" (Felicity, Age 7)
The students then had a fantastic workshop with the team. Tristan was keen to get their autograph!
The day was topped up with the wonderful performance of Toast with Lots of Butter by lovebug + worm
"I thought it was very emotional and a really good performance with lots of funny bits. The actors was hilarious." - Tristan (Age 10)
"I loved it, 10/10. Very entertaining and very good acting." - Harrison (Age 12)
"10/10. I lost my tooth in the show and I got some cake. I liked all of the show especially the bit where they had instrucitons how to eat the cheese string." - Felicity (Age 7). What a brilliant day we had at the Hoot festival, well done to Dirlieband for organising and all the way home in the car we sang the 'bam bam bambebam' song that the Windbags were singing.
We'll definitely be back next year!"
