Theatre REVIEW: Echoes of Stansfield Manor - ★★★★★

A haunting new play from Mix Up Theatre – Edinburgh Seniors 2026

Step inside Stansfield Manor — a place where time folds, memories linger, and the past refuses to stay buried. Spanning a century of secrets, Echoes of Stansfield Manor weaves together three timelines: a forbidden love in 1926, a chaotic film shoot in 1976, and a modern-day haunting that draws one woman back to where it all began.

From ghost hunters livestreaming in the dark to glamorous 1970s divas, from star-crossed lovers to a house that burns again and again, this darkly funny and deeply atmospheric play explores what happens when stories are silenced… and what rises when they demand to be heard.

As reality blurs with performance, and the living collide with the dead, one question echoes through the walls:

Do you ever get the feeling that you’re being watched?

A bold, imaginative, and emotionally charged ensemble piece — filled with humour, heart, and a lingering sense of the uncanny.

Where?

"It was fantastic. And really lovely to see their development over the years."

Sandy's Mum - ★★★★★

"Echoes of Stansfield Manor is a gripping drama that immerses the audience in a journey through time, from 1926 to the present day. But with this being a Mix Up production, there are of course some signature comedic performances along the way. This was another outstanding performance from the Mix Up actors, who continue to grow and develop in both their skills and confidence. I can’t want to see what they do next. Five stars. "

Iris' Mum - ★★★★★

"Thanks so much for putting on Echoes of Stansfield Manor - it was excellent and Iris thoroughly enjoyed being part of it. Well done to everyone involved."

The cast came together brilliantly and delivered a fantastic performance, telling the story with confidence, emotion, and perfect comic timing. The mix of drama and humour kept us engaged from start to finish, and every cast member played their part so well. A truly entertaining and memorable production — huge congratulations to the drama group on such a wonderful show!"
