"Truly good horror movies are a rare instance today, but I am sure no one expected one of media’s now most iconic ones to be directed by a comedian. Jordan Peele’s Get Out is about a couple in which the girlfriend encourages her black boyfriend Chris to visit her parents. Chris is concerned about this because her family is white. Once they arrive, you immediately get deeply unsettled, due to the eminently good cinematography which continued to impress me throughout the movie. The whole thing is made even better by the disturbingly realistic performance of the actors, especially Daniel Kaluuya, who sold the film for me. Get Out is so immersive that when a jump scare takes place, it truly makes you jump! The film fits you into Chris’ shoes perfectly, so you are just as confused as he is. Overall Get Out is an incredibly effective horror movie, which genuinely scared me. It is a movie you think about long after you have watched it."
