After being bitten by a genetically-modified spider, a shy teenager gains spider-like abilities that he uses to fight injustice as a masked superhero and face a vengeful enemy.

It is the first installment in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.

The film received positive reviews from audiences and critics who praised Raimi's direction, the story, the performances, visual effects, action sequences, and musical score.

After its success, the film spawned two sequels, Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007). Maguire and Dafoe later reprised their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which dealt with the concept of the multiverse and linked the Raimi trilogy to the MCU.

That is one of the best lines in show business ever!!!! This movie is very good and is a great start to spider man trilogy. The acttion scenes were great. The Special Effects are okay, pretty good, considering this film was released 20+ years ago. The Green Goblin such a great villain. William Dafoe had The Green Goblin down so well. The only thing I don't really like that much is how they managed Mary Jane but the rest of the movie is perfect.

Overall, a great movie, I hope I enjoy Spiderman 2 as much as I enjoyed this film."
